With over 300 entries, our judge Chris Pichler of Nazraeli Press had his work cut out for him this last week. After many hours of pouring through the submissions he narrowed it down to the following five people, showing five images each. Congratulations!

Newspace Center for Photography invites our members to enter work to be considered for our 1st Annual Members' Showcase: A Juried Exhibition. Selected images will be shown at the Center during the month of September 2009. The call is open to all photographic themes and processes. Entries will be accepted through Friday, July 17th 2009 (postmarked).

To enter the competition you must be a current Newpace member at any level. If you are not a current member, you may sign up or renew at the time of submitting your entry. Membership information can be found HERE

Bring your photos and a cup of coffee for a critique and discussion led by Photographer Lauren Henkin.

Enjoy meeting other local photographers in an open, constructive conversation of your images and photography in general. If possible, please bring actual prints but a projector is available if you want to bring a laptop. The group will meet on the first Sunday of every month from 12-2pm.

Two artists are chosen each year for one-month residencies at Newspace Center for Photography. The program is intended to support talented, self-directed emerging/mid-career photographers in realizing their artistic goals and visions. Resident artists will also serve as a source of inspiration and guidance for the many students and beginning photographers who create and learn at the Center.

Newspace is pleased to announce that photographer Lauren Henkin will be our resident artist in May. Take a look at Lauren's blog to learn about the project she'll be working on during her residency at the Center.

The Newspace Board of Directors is currently seeking new members for a general board positions. The prospective board member should have non-profit experience, enthusiasm for the arts, and a desire to contribute to the strength of the organization.
