NEWSPACE Members! We Want to Show Your Work

 

Our open call for NEWSPACE NOW!: 2015 Members’ Salon is now up and running. All current members are welcome to participate in the exhibition! One work from each member will be selected to reflect the diverse makeup of our broad community. Submissions are due Monday, August 17. The exhibition will be on view October 2 to October 31. Click here for directions on how to submit your work.

Newspace Receives Three New Grants

Newspace is honored and thrilled to have recently received significant support from The Kinsman FoundationThe James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation, and The Meyer Memorial Trust. These grants will support the Newspace Exhibition and Public Programs and allow us to hire a full-time Development Director!

Newspace is a 501c3 nonprofit. Grants, donations, memberships, and corporate sponsorships allow us to connect and inspire people by offering an accessible place to create, learn, and engage in the evolution of the image.

If you believe in the power of photography as a tool for creative expression, join these foundations in their support of Newspace and our programs. Membership contributions and donations ensure that Newspace classes are accessible, exhibitions and public programs are always free, and thetools to create photography are available to students, working artists, and the general public.

CAPTURED 2015 press!

Our summer exhibition CAPTURED 2015 is now up in the gallery through August 1! Don’t miss the chance to see one of American Photo’s 10 Best New Photography Exhibits of Summer 2015! CAPTURED 2015 features intriguing bodies of work by artists Gary BeeberDebi CornwallKatie HarwoodSarah-Marie LandHye-Ryoung MinChristopher RauschenbergIsaac Sachs, and Joel Stevenett.

Photosynthesis: A Therapeutic Photography Group

Stop by our gallery to also view work produced by participants of the Photosynthesis group. Through a partnership between Newspace Center for Photography, Trillium Family Services, David Douglas High School, Teresa Meir Photography and the Art Institute of Portland, a free therapeutic photography group was offered to David Douglas High School students this spring. Group participants learned about and engaged in portrait photography, fine art photography, street photography, pinhole camera creation, film developing, cyanotype image creation, and editing with Photoshop and Lightroom.
