On Location: 70′s Roller Rink Shoot
Level 2-4
This class is a modeled after a real, live concept shoot. The concept—a 1970’s-style shoot at a roller rink with fantastic vintage charm, and models in ‘70’s-style clothing. Pro photographer Jeff Mawer is known for his creative flair in designing concept shoots, and this one will be a rare treat. You’ll learn how to work with models and set up dynamic lighting scenarios with speedlights, monolights, and modifiers. Including up to four hours of shooting, this class is a fantastic portfolio-building opportunity for photographers looking to get some great shots and sharpen their skills in the process.
The second session will be a review of work created during the shoot.
Students should bring DSLR cameras and flash units.
Recommended pre-requisites: Conquering Flash and Creative Speedlight Techniques.
Jeff Mawer has been photographing for the past 20+ years with an array of photography styles from documentary to fashion. He has been published in Skyscraper Magazine, ROCKRGRL, Portland Mercury and Photojojo. His commercial clients include INTEL, MTV, Uncle Eerie’s Shiver Show, Magic Marker Records and Sub Pop. Jeff currently works as a full time apparel product photographer and teaches the following classes at Newspace Center for Photography: Night Photography, Band Photography and Creative Speedlight Techniques. Plus he started and runs the local photography group “PDX Strobist” with over 1000 members and recently branched off with a new photography group called “The Lightist”.
