This workshop is a chance to study with renowned photographer Andrea Modica. Andrea is known for her delicately empathetic portraits and her acute attention to the craft of beautiful image-making. This workshop will focus on developing a deeper sense of intuition with your portraiture. You’ll learn to overcome fears of photographing people, and will learn to work in collaboration with your subjects to create images that go beyond simple portraiture.

The workshop will include portfolio reviews, in-depth discussions about portraiture and the creative process, and a look at contemporary and historical portraiture practices. Andrea will also touch on important ethical issues surrounding portraiture. This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to develop your personal vision with a master photographer as your guide. Students should bring 10-12 prints to the first class.

Register for this workshop at least one month prior to the start date. Withdrawals or refunds must have at least 30 days’ notice. There are no exceptions. If a class is cancelled, Newspace will refund only the class fee, not travel or hotel expenses. Newspace is not responsible for and will not refund any non-tuition expenses for any reason.

Who Should Attend

All photographers are welcome in this workshop. Students should have a solid working knowledge of their equipment as well as a desire to take their portraiture practice to a more meaningful and personal level. Students should bring cameras and may shoot with film or digitally.
