Intermediate Lighting
Level 2-3
Successful lighting is not just about understanding technical details and following rules—it’s about developing your intuition about how light really works. After all, it’s a creative process. This class is an intensive exploration of creative lighting techniques and practices. If you’ve had a basic lighting class and are ready to start thinking outside the box with your lighting, this class is a perfect next step. Class will include studio sessions as well as outdoor “on-location” sessions, where you’ll get to work hands-on with lighting in the field.
You’ll also have a chance to work with live models as you learn to light figures and make striking portraits. A discussion of key color, lighting, and visual theories will add finesse to your skills as you fine-tune and develop your practice.
Required prerequisite: Lighting Basics or instructor’s consent. Students should bring SLR cameras and may shoot with film or digitally. Students may use the studio for five hours free of charge during their enrollment.
