Lighting the Night

Level 2-4

This class is an exciting opportunity to work with lighting outdoors, at night. You’ll learn to compliment the dusky tones of twilight and darkness with professional lighting. The class will begin with a short studio session to introduce the gear and new techniques. Then, you’ll move outdoors for a hands-on shoot. You’ll learn techniques for making your subject pop out of dark backgrounds, and how to infuse a scene with drama. You’ll also learn how to control night lighting and how to expose correctly to maximize tones and color.

This class will up the ante on your technical lighting skills and get you thinking creatively with on-location light. The second session will be a review of work created during the shoot.

Required prerequisite: Lighting Basics or instructor’s consent.

Students should bring SLR cameras.
