This popular class is back, with all new content for new or returning students. If you're stuck in a rut taking the same old pictures over and over again, or are constantly measuring yourself against others' standards, this class will help you break out of the mold and expand your photographic horizons. By completing a series of unusual and provocative weekly assignments, you'll learn to challenge your boundaries and artistic comfort zone.

You'll be asked to make photographs you never imagined would come from your camera - and you'll find out that good pictures don't have to be pretty. Students should bring 10-15 prints to the first class. Some images with mature content will be shown and discussed during class.

The class will be taught by photographer Bobby Abrahamson, a documentary photographer, filmmaker, and media artist with more than 17 years of professional experience teaching and producing documentary art. Before his recent move to Portland, Abrahamson served as founder, director and instructor for the Our Voices photography project of the Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless in Atlanta. His teaching experience includes serving as an instructor of photojournalism at at the University of Georgia, teaching a course on the Ethics of Photojournalism at the International Center of Photography in New York, and leading a one-month workshop in documentary photography at Studio Sepia in the Republic of Georgia. Bobby has had five solo shows of his work, and has participated in a numerous group exhibitions in the United States and in Europe. His freelance clients include The New York Times, TIME, Fortune, U.S. News and World Report and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He recently self-published a book of his photographs titled "One Summer Across America".
