You're traveling to another dimension, a dimension of distorted sight and no sound, a dimension
where depth and scale are not what they appear, time stands still, and color and tone are as
changeable as the Portland weather. You're entering a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of
the imagination. There's a signpost up ahead - your next stop: The Photo Zone.
How many times have we been disappointed with the way our pictures "turn out," in spite of the fact that at the time
of exposure everything seemed so right? Chances are we failed to take into account the many ways
a subject is transformed from reality into a photograph. Through weekly assignments and in-depth
presentations and critiques, this course will heighten your awareness of these changes and allow you
to use these "limitations" to your artistic advantage.
Students should bring 10-15 prints to class.
