Beginning Darkroom

This hands-on class covers beginning black and white darkroom techniques for film photographers. You'll learn how to process your own film and make enlargements in the traditional wet darkroom. By the end of class, you'll be well-versed in the use of contrast filters and burning and dodging, and will be making beautiful prints of your own.
Tuition includes unlimited access to the Newspace darkroom for the month. Students must have SLR cameras with shutter speed and aperture controls to take this class. The Manual Mode is a recommended prerequisite. Students should bring cameras and a roll of exposed film to the first class. Newspace has loaner SLR film cameras you can borrow for the month, just give us a call!

Bob Farr is a Portland photographer who specializes in large format black and white landscape photography.
Laura is a Portland photographer and the Program Director at Newspace. She has taught numerous classes and workshops at Newspace since the Center's establishment in 2002.
