The Digital Negative

In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to make digital negatives from prints or other, smaller negatives. This fascinating process is ideal for students wanting to try alternative contact printing techniques, such as platinum, that produce prints the same size as the negatives used to make them, or for students who wish to capture images digitally and print in the traditional darkroom.
Class will go over scanning practices, retouching, and optimizing images for digital negative output. Tuition includes a copy of Dan Burkholder's Inkjet Negative Companion.
Required prerequisite: Basic Photoshop (or equivalent).
Students will need to bring at least 5 sheets of Pictorico Premium OHP Transparency Film 8.5 x 11. It comes in packages of 20 and is available at Pro Photo Supply or online here.
