What makes a strong portrait? How do you work
with a subject and their environment to create a truly
striking image? In this class, you'll learn how to work
with people to bring out the emotions and energy
you're looking for in a shot. Pro photographer
Robbie McClaran will be your guide.
Through slide
shows, in-depth discussions about portrait styles
and techniques, portraiture demos, and hands-on
shooting, you'll learn to create compelling portraits
that express your vision. You'll also learn how to
scout locations with an eye for light and time of
day, and how to choose spaces that meaningfully
synthesize subject with environment. Class will
also include an overview of simple lighting tools
and techniques for portraiture.
Students should bring cameras and may shoot with film or digitally.
This class will be taught by Portland photographer Robbie McClaren.
