On Assignment: Smith Rock & Tumalo Falls
(L1-4)
Friday through Sunday, July 23rd - 25th
Saturday, August 7th 1-3pm (review session)
$325
This trip is a photographic exploration of the stunning Smith Rock State Park, in Central Oregon's
high desert plateau. Smith Rock is a place of singular beauty. Massive orange and red rock spires
tower above the gently winding Crooked River. Breathtaking vistas, fragrant sage brush, and tall
waving grasses make Smith Rock a uniquely beautiful part of the Oregon landscape - and a truly
spectacular place to photograph.
The area is also home to golden eagles, river otters, and beavers.
After a full day photographing Smith Rock on Saturday, the group will head out on Sunday to
explore the lovely Tumalo Falls
area. Beautiful forested trails follow
Tumalo Creek to a dramatic viewpoint
above the 100 foot waterfall. Rocky
outcroppings, pebbly riverbanks, and
cool, clear water make the area ideal
for both macro work and broader
perspectives.
This trip is a fantastic
chance to capture great shots of unique
locales as you receive instruction
from a talented guide and mentor.
The trip is perfect for photographers
at all levels who are ready for a total
immersion photo adventure. The
second session will be a review/critique
of work created on the trip. Participants
must be confident hikers.
The trip will be led by Robert (Bob) Davis.
