Lorenzo Triburgo’s series, Transportraits, examines representations of American masculinity, photographing transgender men set against hand-painted environmental backdrops. The imagery references the history of photographic portraiture and 19th century landscape and portrait painting. Transportraits addresses the complicated relationship between gender and photographic representation.
